A Load Bank Cooling Fan provides the forced-air cooling essential for safe and sustained generator set load testing. During a generator load test, the resistor load bank dissipates the generator's full rated electrical output as heat — heat that must be removed continuously to keep the resistors within their temperature rating.

Vayuvents designs and supplies load bank cooling fans for generator test facilities, mobile load bank trailers, containerised load banks, and fixed installation test bays. Fan capacity is calculated based on the load bank kW rating, resistor matrix dimensions, and allowable resistor operating temperature.

For mobile load banks on trailers and containers, compact direct-drive axial fans are standard — providing maximum airflow in minimum space. For fixed test bays with large load banks (500 kW to 5 MW), multiple large-diameter axial fans or centrifugal blowers provide the required volume.

All load bank cooling fans are controller-interlocked — the fan cannot be stopped while the load bank is energised, and the load bank cannot be energised without the fan running.

The resistor elements dissipate the test load entirely as heat — which must be force-cooled continuously during testing. Without adequate forced-air cooling, resistors overheat and burn out within seconds at rated load.

80 to 120 m³/hr of cooling air per kW of resistor load is the standard rule. For a 500 kW load bank: 40,000 to 60,000 m³/hr required.
