Venturi Fume Scrubber — Manufacturer & Supplier, India
Vayuvents manufactures Venturi Fume Scrubbers for hot gas cooling, sticky dust, and fine particle scrubbing from industrial exhaust. PP/FRP/SS. Mumbai. Call +91 90961 88703.
A Venturi Fume Scrubber from Vayuvents removes gaseous pollutants and particulate from industrial exhaust streams by passing the contaminated gas through a scrubbing liquid — water or chemical solution. The gas-liquid contact in the scrubber absorbs soluble gases and captures particulate, delivering clean exhaust that meets CPCB emission norms at the stack outlet.
Vayuvents manufactures packed tower scrubbers (most effective for soluble gas removal), venturi scrubbers (effective for hot gas, sticky dust, and combined gas-particle removal), and spray tower scrubbers (for high-temperature gas cooling) in PP, FRP, SS304, and SS316L construction at our Vasai, Mumbai works.
The scrubbing liquid is selected based on the gas to be removed: NaOH (caustic soda) solution for acid gases (HCl, HF, Cl₂, SO₂, H₂SO₄ mist); H₂SO₄ solution for alkaline gases (NH₃, amines); plain water for water-soluble fumes and particulate. The spent scrubbing liquid is recirculated from the sump and periodically replaced or treated in a wastewater treatment system.
Full system supply includes: scrubber shell with packing or venturi throat, liquid distributor, mist eliminator, integral sump, recirculation pump, make-up water connection, chemical dosing system, and control panel with pH monitoring and automatic chemical dosing for caustic scrubbing systems.
Key Features & Benefits
Gas and Particle Removal
Wet scrubbers simultaneously remove particulate matter and soluble gases (HCl, H₂SO₄, NH₃, HF) in a single operation — unlike bag filters which only handle particulate.
Cools and Humidifies Gas
The scrubbing water cools the gas stream and saturates it with water vapour — suitable for hot process gases that would damage dry filtration equipment.
Chemical-Resistant Construction
PP, FRP, SS316, and PVC-lined MS construction — chemical-resistant to the corrosive scrubbing solutions required for acid gas removal.
Recirculating Scrubbing Liquid
Integral sump with recirculation pump — recycles scrubbing liquid to reduce water consumption and allow chemical dosing for enhanced gas absorption.
Acid Gas Removal
Caustic scrubbing (NaOH solution) removes HCl, HF, Cl₂, and SO₂. Acid scrubbing (H₂SO₄) removes NH₃ and amines. Matched to the specific gas composition.
Handles Sticky and Wet Dust
Wet scrubbing handles sticky, hygroscopic, and water-soluble dust that would blind bag filters — ideal for wax, soap, and food dust applications.
Simple Construction
No filter media to replace, no pulse-jet system — simple packed tower or venturi design with low maintenance requirements.
CPCB Compliant
System designed to meet CPCB emission norms for both particulate and gaseous pollutants at the stack outlet.

Frequently Asked QuestionsFAQs — Venturi Fume Scrubber
A wet fume scrubber passes contaminated air or gas through a scrubbing liquid — typically water or a chemical solution — to remove particulate matter and soluble gases. In a packed tower scrubber, the gas flows upward through a bed of packing (PP Pall rings or structured packing) while scrubbing liquid flows down from the top, creating intimate gas-liquid contact. Soluble gases are absorbed into the liquid and particulate is captured by the liquid droplets. In a venturi scrubber, high-velocity gas entrains water droplets that capture fine particulate.
Wet scrubbers remove: (1) acid gases — HCl, HF, Cl₂, SO₂ (using NaOH solution); (2) alkaline gases — NH₃, amines (using H₂SO₄ or citric acid solution); (3) soluble organic vapours — formaldehyde, acetaldehyde (using water or oxidant solution); (4) water-soluble particulate — sticky dust, water-soluble salts. Wet scrubbers do NOT effectively remove non-polar organic solvents (toluene, hexane) or highly insoluble gases (CO, NO, NO₂ without additives).
A packed tower scrubber (also called a wet packed column or absorption tower) uses a bed of packing material over which water or chemical solution flows — providing large surface area for gas absorption. It is most effective for soluble gas removal. A venturi scrubber uses high-velocity gas flow through a venturi throat where water is injected — the velocity creates fine water droplets that capture particulate. Venturi scrubbers are better for fine particulate collection from hot, sticky, or water-soluble dust streams.
For HCl, H₂SO₄, and HF acid fume scrubbing: PP or FRP construction for the shell, packing support grid, and liquid distributor — stainless steel corrodes in concentrated acid service. For mild acid service and general industrial scrubbing: SS304 or SS316L. For very concentrated acid or oxidising acid (HNO₃, hot H₂SO₄): PVDF or ECTFE-lined construction. Vayuvents recommends the correct construction material based on the specific acid type and concentration.
Yes. The spent scrubbing liquid from a wet scrubber contains the absorbed contaminants — acid gases form acidic effluent, alkali gases form alkaline effluent, and particulate is present as a slurry. This effluent must be treated in a wastewater treatment system before disposal to drain. Vayuvents provides a wastewater quantity estimate and pH neutralisation recommendation with each scrubber system design.
In cold climates (below 5°C ambient), wet scrubbers require freeze protection for the scrubbing liquid recirculation system and sump. Insulation, heat tracing, and anti-freeze additives are used. For outdoor installation in cold climates, Vayuvents provides insulated scrubber packages with heat-traced piping and sump. In Indian climates this is rarely an issue.
