Belt Driven Tube Axial Fan — Manufacturer & Supplier, India

Vayuvents manufactures Belt Driven Tube Axial Fans for through-duct and inline high-temperature, corrosive, and process exhaust service. Motor outside airstream, 305 mm to 1,530 mm dia. IS 3588 compliant. Mumbai. Call +91 90961 88703.

A Belt Driven Tube Axial Fan combines the compact, inline duct-insertion profile of a tube axial fan with the thermal and chemical protection benefits of belt drive — motor mounted outside the tube casing on a separate bracket, completely out of the process airstream.

The tube axial casing is a short circular tube sized to match the duct diameter, with the fan shaft passing through a sealed bearing housing in the casing wall. The motor is mounted externally on the casing wall with a belt-drive connection through a sealed aperture — keeping the motor in clean, cool ambient air while the fan handles the process airstream inside the duct.

This configuration is ideal for inline installation in ventilation duct systems handling hot furnace exhaust, paint booth solvent fumes, chemical plant process air, and pharmaceutical drying exhaust — anywhere the airstream conditions would damage a direct-drive motor.

Vayuvents manufactures belt driven tube axial fans from 305 mm to 1,530 mm diameter in MS, FRP, and SS construction, matched to the customer's existing duct size and operating conditions.

Key Features

Key Features & Benefits

🔌

Motor Outside Tube Casing

Motor bracket mounted on external face of tube casing — motor stays in clean ambient air while fan handles hot or corrosive airstream inside the duct.

📐

Inline Duct Insertion

Circular tube casing with flanged ends sized to match existing duct diameter — slips inline into any duct system without special adapter sections.

⚙️

Variable Speed via Pulley

Belt and pulley drive allows fan RPM to be set independently of motor speed — fine-tune airflow to exact duct system requirement.

🌡️

High Temp Airstream

Handles airstream temperatures up to 300°C (with appropriate material selection) — direct drive would fail in these conditions.

🛡️

Chemical-Resistant Options

FRP or SS tube casing and impeller for acid fume, solvent vapour, and chemical process exhaust duct service.

💨

Low Space Requirement

Compact tube profile fits within tight ceiling voids, riser shafts, and mechanical equipment rooms where standard fan configurations cannot be accommodated.

🔧

Easy Belt Access

Motor and belt arrangement accessible from outside the duct — maintenance without duct entry or process shutdown in many installations.

IS 3588 Compliant

Airflow and pressure performance tested per IS 3588-1987 with test certificate confirming stated inline duct performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs — Belt Driven Tube Axial Fan

The key advantage is that the motor is mounted outside the airstream on a separate bracket. This means the motor never contacts the hot, corrosive, or dust-laden air being handled — dramatically extending motor life in paint shop, chemical plant, high-temperature, and dusty process service where direct-drive motors would overheat or corrode rapidly. Belt drive also allows the fan speed to be set independently of the motor speed by changing pulley diameters.

With the motor outside the airstream and a suitable impeller and casing material, belt driven axial fans handle airstream temperatures up to 300°C continuously. Standard MS impeller and casing are suitable up to 150°C. For 150°C to 300°C, high-temperature alloy impeller and casing with high-temperature grease bearings are used. Above 300°C, centrifugal fans with water-cooled bearings are typically preferred.

Fan speed is adjusted by changing the pulley diameter ratio between the motor pulley and the fan shaft pulley. A larger motor pulley or smaller fan pulley increases fan speed; a smaller motor pulley or larger fan pulley decreases it. Vayuvents supplies fans with the pulley ratio pre-set for the required operating point, and can supply alternative pulleys for field speed adjustment if the airflow requirement changes after installation.

For chemical fume exhaust service, Vayuvents supplies: (1) FRP (fibre-reinforced plastic) impeller and casing for acid fumes, HCl, H2SO4, and general chemical exhaust; (2) PP (polypropylene) impeller for moderate chemical service; (3) SS304 or SS316L impeller and casing for food, pharmaceutical, and moderately corrosive service. The motor remains outside the corrosive airstream regardless of impeller material.

Yes. For Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous classified areas, Vayuvents supplies belt driven fans with IS 5572 / ATEX flameproof Ex-d motors and non-sparking aluminium or GRP impellers. The belt drive configuration is advantageous in hazardous areas because it allows the motor to be positioned outside the hazardous zone boundary in some installations, reducing the motor certification requirement.

Belt driven fans require: (1) V-belt tension check every 3 months — a slack belt slips and reduces fan speed, a tight belt overloads motor bearings; (2) V-belt replacement every 12 to 18 months under normal service; (3) fan shaft bearing lubrication every 6 months for re-greasable bearings; (4) impeller cleaning every 3 to 6 months to prevent imbalance from dust accumulation. Belt drive adds modest maintenance compared to direct drive but provides substantial benefits in high-temperature and chemical service.
