A Portable Exhaust Blower is a motor-driven portable fan configured specifically for exhaust duty — removing contaminated, fume-laden, hot, or oxygen-deficient air from enclosed work areas, confined spaces, and maintenance locations where permanently installed exhaust fans are not available or the work location changes.
Vayuvents portable exhaust blowers pull contaminated air from the work area and discharge it to the outside through flexible ducting or direct discharge. The forced exhaust creates a negative pressure in the work area — drawing in fresh replacement air through natural openings or a separately deployed supply fan.
Key applications include welding inside enclosed structures (ships, pressure vessels, tanks), solvent-based coating of internal surfaces, dust-generating maintenance activities in enclosed plant rooms, and post-entry purging of confined spaces after completing cleaning or inspection activities.
Flameproof Ex-d motor variants available for exhaust of flammable solvent vapours from painted or coated enclosed structures. Flexible duct connector supplied for connecting standard construction flexible duct for remote exhaust discharge.

Portable ventilation fans are used for temporary ventilation where fixed fans cannot be installed — confined space pre-entry air supply, construction site enclosed space ventilation, ship tank and hold pre-entry cooling, maintenance shutdown temporary air supply, and emergency deployment when fixed ventilation fails. They are the essential tool for safe confined space entry compliance under IS 5916 and OISD standards.
For safe confined space entry pre-ventilation, a minimum of 20 air changes per hour of the confined space volume is recommended, using fresh outdoor air (not recirculated). For a typical 50 m³ ship tank, this requires 1,000 m³/hr minimum — achieved by a 300 mm portable fan. For larger spaces (excavations, large vessels), 400 to 600 mm fans providing 6,000 to 13,000 m³/hr are recommended. Vayuvents provides sizing guidance for your specific confined space.
Yes. Portable fans with reversible motors supply fresh air when running forward and exhaust contaminated air when running in reverse. This flexibility allows one fan to serve both pre-entry supply ventilation and post-entry exhaust during work operations. Even without a reversible motor, the fan can be repositioned at the confined space opening to push air in or pull air out depending on whether supply or exhaust is needed.
Standard Vayuvents portable ventilation fans are supplied with 415V 3-phase supply for larger sizes (above 0.5 HP). For construction sites and confined space work where only single-phase supply is available, 230V single-phase versions are supplied for sizes up to 0.5 HP. Portable generator supply at 230V single-phase is the most common power source for confined space and construction site applications.
Standard portable fans with IP55 induction motors are NOT safe in explosive atmospheres (Zone 1 or Zone 2). For confined spaces that may contain flammable vapours (fuel tanks, solvent storage), only flameproof Ex-d certified portable fans should be used. Vayuvents can supply flameproof portable ventilation fans for hazardous atmosphere confined space entry — please specify when requesting a quotation.
A portable ventilation fan is an open propeller or tube axial fan designed for free-air supply or exhaust ventilation. A portable blower cum exhauster has a centrifugal or higher-pressure axial fan that can overcome the resistance of connected flexible ducting — allowing air to be directed to a specific point 10 to 30 metres away through a duct. The blower cum exhauster is preferred where the ventilation point is not directly accessible to the fan, requiring ductwork.
