Wood Dust Collector — Manufacturer & Supplier, India

Vayuvents manufactures Wood Dust Collectors — cyclone pre-separator and pulse-jet bag filter systems for woodworking, furniture, and MDF manufacturing. Antistatic, CPCB compliant. Mumbai. Call +91 90961 88703.

A Wood Dust Collector for industrial woodworking facilities comprises a cyclone pre-separator for coarse chip and sawdust recovery followed by a pulse-jet bag filter for fine wood flour separation — with specific safety provisions for the combustible nature of dry wood dust.

Wood dust — particularly fine wood flour below 75 microns generated by sanding, routing, and moulding — is combustible and creates explosive concentrations in enclosed equipment at dust concentrations above 30 to 40 g/m³. PESO and fire authority regulations require explosion protection measures including: antistatic bag material, earthing of all metallic components, spark arrestor at the inlet, and explosion relief venting on the bag filter housing.

Vayuvents wood dust collectors are supplied with antistatic earthed filter bags as standard, anti-static earthing lugs on all equipment, tangential spark arrestor inlet to the cyclone, and explosion relief vents sized to IS 15825 for the bag filter housing.

Coarse sawdust and chips recovered in the cyclone hopper can be conveyed directly to briquette presses or biomass fuel storage — providing economic recovery of wood waste alongside dust emission compliance.

Key Features

Key Features & Benefits

🔥

Antistatic Bags

Conductive antistatic polyester bags with carbon fibre threads — prevents electrostatic charge accumulation that could ignite wood dust explosive atmosphere.

✈️

Spark Arrestor Inlet

Tangential spark arrestor at cyclone inlet removes incandescent spark particles from the airstream before they reach the filter bags — prevents bag fire.

💥

Explosion Relief Vent

IS 15825-compliant explosion relief vent on bag filter housing — vents explosion pressure safely to open air if ignition occurs inside the bag filter.

🪵

Coarse Chip Recovery

Cyclone pre-separator recovers 85 to 95% of coarse chips and sawdust as a clean, dry fraction — suitable for briquetting or biomass fuel use.

🔄

Online Pulse-Jet Cleaning

Continuous compressed air pulse cleaning maintains consistent filtration efficiency without production shutdown — wood dust requires frequent cleaning due to high dust loading.

🌫️

Fine Flour Collection

Pulse-jet bag filter with antistatic bags captures fine wood flour (below 10 microns) to outlet concentration below 10 mg/m³ — exceeding CPCB emission norms.

🔒

Full System Earthing

All components — cyclone, ductwork, bag filter, fan — bonded and earthed to prevent static charge accumulation in the combustible wood dust atmosphere.

CPCB & PESO Compliant

System designed to meet CPCB emission norms and PESO combustible dust safety requirements for woodworking industry installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs — Wood Dust Collector

Both are fabric filter dust collectors that use cloth bags to separate dust from the airstream. The difference is the cleaning mechanism. A pulse-jet dust collector cleans bags using brief pulses of compressed air directed into each bag row — dislodging accumulated dust cake while the fan continues running (online cleaning). A bag house dust collector is a general term for any large fabric filter installation — which may use pulse-jet, reverse-air, or mechanical shaking cleaning. Large industrial installations are typically called bag houses regardless of the cleaning method.

A well-designed pulse-jet dust collector with polyester felt bags achieves greater than 99% mass filtration efficiency for particles above 5 microns. With PTFE membrane bags, efficiency exceeds 99.9% for particles above 1 micron, achieving outlet concentrations below 10 mg/m³. This meets the most stringent CPCB emission norms. The PTFE membrane prevents dust from penetrating the bag fabric — maintaining consistent high efficiency throughout the bag life.

Pulse-jet cleaning requires clean, dry compressed air at 5 to 7 bar pressure. A dedicated compressed air receiver (typically 200 to 500 litres) is installed adjacent to the dust collector to provide the instantaneous compressed air volume needed for each cleaning pulse. The air consumption is 2 to 5 Nm³/hr depending on bag count and cleaning frequency. Vayuvents sizes the compressed air requirement and receiver with each pulse-jet system.

For cement plant raw meal, cement, and fly ash dust: standard polyester felt bags are adequate for temperatures below 120°C. For cement kiln exit gas at 150 to 200°C: woven glass fibre bags with PTFE membrane are required. For dusty airstreams with moisture condensation risk: water-repellent treated polyester bags or PTFE membrane bags prevent bag blinding from moisture. Vayuvents selects the correct bag material based on your dust type, temperature, and moisture content.

In typical cement, mineral, and woodworking dust service, polyester felt bags last 2 to 4 years. PTFE membrane bags last 4 to 7 years. Bag life depends heavily on: dust abrasiveness (abrasive silica dust wears bags faster), chemical attack (acid gases damage standard polyester), temperature (exceeding bag rated temperature shortens life rapidly), and cleaning frequency (over-cleaning stresses bags). Vayuvents provides bag life estimates and replacement bag supply for all models.

Sticky or hygroscopic dust (some metal oxides, ammonium sulphate, food powders) can cause bags to blind — the dust cake does not release properly during cleaning pulses. Solutions include: (1) PTFE membrane bags that prevent dust penetration; (2) heated bag house to keep dust above its dew point and prevent moisture condensation; (3) water-repellent bag treatment; (4) more frequent cleaning pulses. Vayuvents assesses the dust characteristics and recommends the appropriate bag type and cleaning strategy.
