A Base Mounted Axial Flow Fan is a direct-drive axial fan installed on a rigid fabricated steel base plate that is permanently bolted to the factory floor or structural plinth. Unlike stand-mounted fans that can be repositioned, base-mounted fans provide a fixed, vibration-stable installation point ideal for large fan diameters and high-power motors where stability is critical.

A base mounted axial fan is bolted permanently to the floor on a rigid fabricated steel base plate — it cannot be repositioned after installation. A stand mounted fan sits on an adjustable pedestal that can be moved to different locations. Base mounting is chosen for large fans (above 600 mm diameter), high motor powers (above 5 HP), and permanent process plant and building ventilation installations where stability and vibration control are more important than flexibility.
For a 5,000 sq m factory with 8 metre ceiling height and 6 air changes per hour, the required airflow is approximately 2,40,000 m³/hr. This is typically provided by 2 to 3 fans of 1,220 mm to 1,530 mm diameter (AX-750-96-480 to AX-150-960-600 range). Vayuvents provides free sizing calculations based on your factory dimensions, ceiling height, and required air change rate.
Yes. Base mounted axial fans with IP55 motors and epoxy-painted casings are suitable for outdoor installation in covered or semi-covered areas. For fully exposed outdoor installations, IP65 motors and additional anti-corrosion paint treatment are recommended. Vayuvents supplies fans for outdoor service with appropriate motor enclosure and paint specification on request.
Vayuvents supplies base mounted fans with a fabricated MS base plate with pre-drilled anchor bolt holes. The base plate is fixed to the concrete floor plinth using M16 or M20 anchor bolts (4 to 6 bolts depending on fan size). Anti-vibration pad sets are supplied for placement between the base plate and floor surface. Vayuvents provides the anchor bolt layout drawing and recommended plinth dimensions with each fan.
Base mounted axial fans can be installed with the airflow axis horizontal (blowing across the factory floor), vertical upward (exhausting through a roof opening or duct), or at an angle. The most common industrial installation is horizontal airflow for cross-ventilation or directed cooling. A flanged casing outlet can be fitted to connect to ductwork for directed supply or exhaust if required.
Standard sizes (305 mm to 1,220 mm, up to 10 HP) are typically available within 2 to 3 weeks. Larger sizes (1,530 mm to 1,830 mm, 15 HP to 50 HP) require 4 to 6 weeks.
