Cyclone Dust Collector for Metal Grinding — Manufacturer & Supplier
Vayuvents Pvt. Ltd. manufactures and supplies industrial cyclone dust collectors for metal grinding dust separation applications across India and export markets.
Metal grinding, shot blasting, and abrasive cutting generate dense, abrasive metallic dust and spent abrasive media. The abrasive and high-density nature of metal grinding dust makes cyclone pre-separation especially important — it protects the bag filter from rapid abrasion damage.
Vayuvents manufactures heavy-duty metal grinding cyclone collectors in thick MS (8 to 12mm body, with abrasion-resistant cone liner) specifically for the abrasive service conditions of metal grinding and shot blasting applications.
The dense metal swarf and spent shot blast media collected in the cyclone hopper has scrap value — enabling recycling rather than disposal with the fine dust from the downstream bag filter.
How It Works in This Application
Abrasive Dust at Source
Metal grinding wheels, shot blast turbines, and abrasive cutting machines generate dense metal dust and spent abrasive at high concentration in the extraction airstream.
High-Velocity Cyclone Entry
Abrasive metal dust-laden air enters the cyclone at 15 to 20 m/s — ensuring dense metal particles are centrifuged out of the airstream effectively before reaching the bag filter.
Metallic Dust Collection
Dense metal particles and spent shot blast media spiral to the cone and drop into the collection hopper for scrap metal recovery.
Fine Dust to Bag Filter
The residual fine metal dust below 10 microns exits the cyclone to the downstream bag filter for final separation before exhaust to atmosphere.
Recommended Variants
Heavy-Duty MS Cyclone
Thick-plate 8 to 12mm MS for abrasive metal grinding and shot blast dust service.
Most RecommendedAbrasion-Resistant Lined Cyclone

Key Features
- No moving parts inside the cyclone body — zero maintenance consumables unlike bag filters
- Handles high-temperature dust streams up to 350°C where fabric bag filters cannot be used
- Handles abrasive, sticky, or hygroscopic dust where bag filters would blind quickly
- Compact vertical installation footprint suits tight industrial plant layouts
- MS, SS304, FRP, and PP construction options to match dust chemical properties
- Multi-cyclone battery arrangement for higher flow rates with better separation efficiency
- Dust discharge through rotary valve or manual dump valve into hopper or bag
- Works pressure drop test certificate with measured inlet/outlet static pressure data

FAQs
Minimum 8mm MS plate for the body and 10 to 12mm for the cone. For shot blast media cyclones, a replaceable abrasion-resistant liner (chrome-carbide or ceramic) in the cone section extends service life significantly.
Yes. Spent shot blast media collected in the cyclone hopper can be screened and re-used in the blast machine, reducing shot consumption by 70 to 85 percent.
15 to 20 m/s to ensure dense metal particles develop sufficient centrifugal force for separation. Below 12 m/s, efficiency drops significantly for dense metal particles.
Iron and steel grinding dust is not generally combustible. However, aluminium, magnesium, and titanium grinding dust is highly combustible and potentially explosive — requiring special explosion-rated systems.
Yes — with a motor-driven rotary airlock valve at the cone bottom for continuous media and dust discharge. Without a rotary valve, air bypasses through the hopper and dramatically reduces efficiency.
With plain MS cone, wear life is 6 to 18 months depending on shot hardness and throughput. With a replaceable abrasion-resistant liner, the cyclone body lasts 10+ years and only the liner is replaced.
