Application Overview

Centrifugal Blower for Fume Extraction — Manufacturer & Supplier

Vayuvents Pvt. Ltd. manufactures and supplies centrifugal blowers for fume extraction applications across chemical plants, electroplating facilities, pharmaceutical plants, laboratories, welding workshops, and industrial process areas in India and export markets.

Industrial fumes — chemical vapours, acid gases, solvent vapours, welding fumes, and process off-gases — are hazardous to workers and must be captured at source and safely exhausted to atmosphere or treated in a scrubber. The centrifugal blower is the heart of any fume extraction system, generating the static pressure needed to draw fumes through collection hoods, transport ductwork, and scrubber packing.

The choice of blower material is critical for fume extraction — the wrong material can corrode and fail rapidly in acid fume environments. Vayuvents supplies PP (polypropylene), FRP (fibreglass), SS304, SS316, and MS centrifugal blowers to match the specific corrosive properties of the fumes being extracted.

We have supplied fume extraction blowers to electroplating plants in Pune and Mumbai, pharmaceutical manufacturers in Hyderabad, chemical plants in Gujarat, and export clients in UAE and Saudi Arabia — covering the full range of fume types and concentrations.

How It Works

How It Works in This Application

1

Fume Generation at Process

Chemical baths, reactors, paint shops, welding operations, and process equipment generate hazardous fumes that must be captured before they disperse into the workplace.

2

Hood and Duct Capture

Collection hoods positioned at fume source capture airborne vapours in the airstream drawn by the centrifugal blower through corrosion-resistant supply ductwork.

3

Transport to Treatment or Stack

The fume-laden airstream is transported through the collection ductwork to a wet scrubber, activated carbon bed, or direct exhaust stack.

4

Treatment and Safe Exhaust

In wet scrubbers, fumes are absorbed in water or chemical solution before the cleaned air is exhausted. For lower-concentration fumes, direct exhaust to a high-level stack may be compliant.

Recommended Types

Recommended Variants

🧪

PP Centrifugal Blower

Polypropylene construction for acid and alkali fumes — hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, electroplating baths, and caustic solutions.

Most Recommended
🌊

FRP Centrifugal Blower

Fibreglass-reinforced plastic for higher-concentration acid fumes and applications requiring greater structural strength than PP.

💎

SS316L Centrifugal Blower

Stainless steel for fumes from nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and pharmaceutical processes where PP/FRP is not suitable.

🔥

Spark-Resistant Centrifugal Blower

Non-sparking construction with flameproof motor for solvent vapour and flammable gas fume extraction applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

For hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, and chromic acid fumes (as in electroplating), PP (polypropylene) is the first choice — it is chemically resistant to most mineral acids and provides long service life at lower cost. For higher concentration or temperature acid fumes, FRP provides greater structural rigidity. For nitric acid or hydrofluoric acid, SS316L is recommended. Vayuvents advises on the correct material for your specific fume type.

Yes. PP and FRP blowers can handle fumes up to 60 degrees Celsius. For higher temperature fumes, SS316L or MS construction is required. For very high temperature fumes (above 200 degrees Celsius), special high-temperature insulated casing and bearing arrangements are needed. Please specify the fume temperature when requesting a quote.

Yes. Vayuvents supplies spark-resistant centrifugal blowers with non-sparking aluminium or SS impellers and flameproof or ATEX-certified motors for solvent vapour and flammable gas fume extraction. The correct hazardous area classification must be specified.

Yes. Centrifugal blowers are commonly paired with wet scrubbers to provide the static pressure needed to overcome scrubber packing resistance. The blower is typically placed after the scrubber in a pull-through configuration. Vayuvents sizes the blower to overcome both ductwork and scrubber pressure drop.

Laboratory and industrial fume hoods require a face velocity of 0.5 to 0.8 m/s at the hood opening for most chemical applications. Electroplating tank edge exhausts require 0.3 to 0.5 m/s face velocity. Vayuvents selects the blower capacity based on hood dimensions and required face velocity.

Yes. Vayuvents has supplied PP centrifugal blowers to multiple electroplating plants in Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai for extraction of hydrochloric acid, chromic acid, and nickel plating bath fumes. Our PP blowers are manufactured from high-quality virgin polypropylene with all wetted parts in the same material.
